Mailing lists let you build and manage subscriber audiences for your email campaigns. Subscribers can be existing members, or external contacts who sign up via an embeddable form or a public landing page.
Creating a Mailing List
Create a mailing list from the Mail section of the admin portal. Click the + button next to "Mailing Lists" in the sidebar, enter a name, and the list is ready to use.
Each mailing list has its own subscriber base, email history, sharing options, and settings.
Managing Subscribers
Adding Subscribers
From the Subscribers tab, you can add subscribers in several ways:
- Search and add members — search your existing member directory by name or email
- Add by email — enter an email address directly to create an email-only subscriber (no account required)
- Import from file — upload an Excel or CSV file with subscriber emails; supports AI-powered data cleanup and duplicate detection
Email-Only Subscribers
Mailing lists support subscribers who don't have user accounts. When someone subscribes via the embed widget or landing page, they're added as an email-only subscriber. If they later create an account with the same email, both subscriptions are preserved.
Exporting Subscribers
Export your subscriber list as an Excel file from the Subscribers tab. The export includes name, email, subscription date, and whether the subscriber is a member.
Auto-Enroll Members
Automatically subscribe members to a mailing list based on their membership level. When a new member is activated with a matching level, they are added to the list automatically.
Configure auto-enrollment from the Settings tab on each mailing list. Select one or more membership levels, and all future members at those levels will be subscribed on activation.
Share Page
Each mailing list can have a public landing page — a standalone, shareable page where visitors can learn about your newsletter and subscribe.
Editing the Share Page
From the Sharing tab, click Edit Page to open the share page editor. The editor includes:
- Title — the main heading displayed on the page (defaults to the mailing list name)
- Headline — an optional tagline or subtitle
- Description — rich content using the visual editor (text, images, tables, links)
- Featured image — upload an image, choose from Unsplash, or select a gradient
- Layout — choose from three page styles
The share page supports the same draft/publish workflow as other content types. Save as draft to preview, then publish when ready.
Layout Styles
| Style | Description |
|---|---|
| Split Screen | Content on the left with a large image on the right. Best for visual impact with minimal copy. |
| Centered Hero | Full-width hero image with a title overlay, followed by centered content and a subscribe card. Best for newsletters with strong imagery. |
| Editorial Sidebar | Title and full-width image at the top, with body content on the left and a sticky subscribe form on the right. Best for longer descriptions. |
Sharing the Page
The Sharing tab provides:
- Page URL — copy the direct link to your landing page, or open it in a new tab
- Embed code — paste into any website to embed the subscribe widget; the embed automatically resizes and supports theme customization
- Email actions — create a standalone email from the page content, or add the page as a link preview in an existing draft
When shared on social media, the landing page shows rich previews with the title, description, and featured image via OpenGraph and Twitter Card meta tags.
Embed Widget
The mailing list subscribe form can be embedded on any website using a small code snippet. The embed widget:
- Shows the mailing list title, headline, and featured image (if configured)
- Adapts its layout based on available width — vertical card in narrow containers, horizontal row in wider ones
- Supports light mode, dark mode, or no-theme styling
- Automatically resizes the iframe to fit content
- Handles subscription with inline success/error feedback
Copy the embed code from the Sharing tab on any mailing list.
Sending Emails to a Mailing List
When composing a new email, select Mailing List as the audience type and choose the target list. The recipient count updates live to show how many subscribers will receive the email.
You can also create a new email directly from the mailing list view by clicking New Email — the list is automatically pre-selected as the audience.
Unsubscribe
Every bulk email includes an unsubscribe link. When a subscriber clicks it, they can manage their email preferences or unsubscribe from specific mailing lists. Members can also manage their mailing list subscriptions from the member portal.
